[Class 94 (i)] Articles a to be wrapped are brought by a conveyer 14 and are pushed on to a pivoted carrier 19 when the latter is in its lowest inclined position as shown. During its passage on to the carrier the article becomes partially wrapped in a length of web w which has been drawn from a supply roll at the end of the wrapping of the preceding article. The carrier is now raised, by a cam and follower 38, 39, into a horizontal position and an arm 50 carrying a roller 51, which may be freely mounted or positively driven, is swung counterclockwise about its pivot 52 by a second cam and follower. The web passes between a positively driven roller 46 and the roller 51 whereby the web is drawn downwardly into a loop. Coacting cutters 70, 71 are operated by a third cam and follower, the portion of the web between its severed end and the bottom right-hand corner of the article being utilised for completing the covering of the bottom side of the article as it is passed, by a pusher 105, to the delivery station. The ends of the parcel are folded by known means. The arm 50 is then raised again and the portion of the web left hanging over the roller 46 is used for beginning the wrapping of the next article.
