Abstract

999,993. Packaging; endless conveyers. FORGROVE MACHINERY CO. Ltd. March 18, 1964 [April 2, 1963], No. 13055/63. Headings B8A and B8C. Transverse marks are provided at regular intervals on a flat conveyer belt 1 (Fig. 1), so as to indicate to the operator the position for a non-slidable article 7, which is to be wrapped in a web 5'travelling at the same speed as the belt 1. The belt 1 is driven by a large drum 2, so that a small nose pulley 3 can be used, thus enabling the article 7 to be fed directly on to the web 5. The web 5 is formed into a tube about the articles 7 and then sealed transversely between them. Alternatively, two webs 5, 15 may be used, having their longitudinal edges sealed together to form flat packages. A photo-electric cell 10 may be provided to scan the marks on the belt 1, and to actuate means for adjusting the speed of the belt if there is any slipping.
