Abstract

1,156,756. Endless conveyers. FERAG, FEHR & REIST A.G. 21 Dec., 1967 [30 Dec., 1966], No. 58077/67. Heading B8A. A stack 5 of newspapers is turned through 90 degrees about a vertical axis by being passed from a belt conveyer 2 to a pair of belt conveyers 7, 8 running at different speeds. The belts 7, 8 may be driven from a single drivemotor via a differential gear (not shown). The latter may be controlled by a control device 12 in conjunction with photo-electric means 15, 19. Alternatively, the drive to the belts 7, 8 may be via slipping, e.g. magnetic clutches, the speed variation being obtained by braking. The arrangement is such that the arithmetic mean of the speed of the belts 7, 8 always equals the speed of the belt 2. The control arrangement may be such that alternative stacks are turned in opposite directions. The slower belt may be reduced to zero speed or may be reversed.
