Abstract

921,679. Feeding sheets. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNG G.m.b.H. Aug. 18, 1961 [Aug. 19, 1960], No. 29902/61. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Flat articles such as postal mail are aligned at one edge against an aligning surface 2 by passing them between a pair of opposed belts 4, 8, the belt 4 moving in a direction parallel to the surface 2, and the belt 8 moving in a direction inclined at an acute angle to the surface 2. Preferably, the component of speed of the belt 8 in the direction of movement of the belt 4 is equal to the speed of the belt 4. The surface of the belt 4 is smooth and non-frictional, and that of the belt 8 is frictional. The belt 4 is supported on rollers 5, 6 and the belt 8 is supported on rollers 9, 10 arranged between the rollers 5, 6. Articles 1 issue from a turning arrangement with one edge thereof in alignment with the direction of movement of the belt 4, and are moved by the belt 8 through a position 13 to an aligned position 3.
