Abstract
1,007,044. Delivering sheets. SUNDS VERKSTADER A.B. Jan. 14, 1963 [Jan. 18, 1962], No. 1594/63. Heading B6H. Sheets, e.g. carton blanks, from a stack 14, Fig. 1A, are conveyed by endless belts 7, pressed upwards by springs 10 against belts 9, and then carried by belts 8 in underlapping formation, the belts 9, 8 moving more slowly than the belts 7, to the underside of a stack 1, Fig. 1B. Each sheet delivered raises the stack and is stopped by an abutment 6. When a predetermined number of sheets is detected by a microswitch 6 and counted by a counter 66, an electromagnet 49 is energized to lower the abutment 6, whereupon the stack moves forwards as shown at 65. The abutment 6 is immediately released and urged upwards by a weak spring 67, so as to rise to locking position as soon as the stack passes off it. If two sheets are not underlapping, this is detected by a photo-cell 60, and a magnet 62 raises plates 61 to lift the trailing end of the stack until (because of a delay device 69) the next sheet is fed into the stack. In another form, Fig. 4, sheets reaching the stack are not underlapped, since belts 71 running on enlarged-diameter parts 74, 75 of rollers 72, 73, over which the conveyer belts 16 also run, accelerate the sheets. Each sheet as it passes wholly into the stack is counted by apparatus 77 under control of a photocell 76, and after a predetermined number have been counted, a motor 78 rotates a shaft 80 through half a revolution, the shaft 80 carrying two opposed spring-actuated abutment flaps 81. Alternatively, the shaft carries one abutment and is rotated a complete revolution. In another form, the shaft 80 is rotated by friction with the belts 16, and stopped after half a revolution by a blocking member which may be the armature of the magnet 49. In all the formed described, the belts 9 and some of the rollers carrying the belts 7, 8 are carried on a slide adjustable longitudinally by a hand wheel for adjustment according to sheet length, while another hand wheel adjusts the position of the stacker and abutment mechanism.
