Abstract

1286977 Stacking apparatus W SIGLOCH [trading as GROSSBUCHBINDEREI WALTER SIGLOCH] 8 Sept 1969 [7 Sept 1968] 44244/69 Heading B8C A stacking apparatus for books comprises an endless conveyor belt 10 arranged in a frame 15 which is supported at one end by a piston and cylinder assembly 20, a discharge station 12, rigidly attached to the frame 15 and consisting of two parallel endless conveyer belts 28, lateral guide rails 30 and an end stop 33 which when contacted by a book actuates a further pneumatic piston and cylinder assembly and a lever mechanism for moving the two conveyer belts 28 in the direction of the arrows 32, hence forming a stack 14, and a light transmitter 40 and a photo-cell 41 operatively connected to a valve controlling the movement of the first mentioned piston and cylinder assembly 20. The conveyer belts 28 pass around rollers 26, 27 which are spring biased on their shafts 23, 24 towards a position in which the conveyer belts 28 support the edges of a book. The rollers 26 are splined or keyed with the shaft 23 which is coupled by a belt drive 25 to the roller 17 of the conveyer 10. The lateral guide rails 30 and the end stop are adjustable to allow for books of various dimensions. The end stop may be connected to an electric counter.
