Abstract

923,033. Feeding sheets. SOLARTRON ELECTRONIC GROUP Ltd. Nov. 23, 1961 [Nov. 25, 1960], No. 40672/60. Class 100 (1). [Also in Group XXX] Friction is reduced between an endless conveyer belt and a hollow bar 18 over which the belt passes by blowing air through bores extending over that part of the surface of the bar rubbed against by the belt. Documents are fed from a conveyer (not shown) on to a top main conveyer run 10 and are held down by tapes 13. Unless it is desired to abstract a document, a flap 14 is left in the position shown in full lines and the document slides over the flap to a succeeding conveyer (not shown). When a document is to be abstracted the flap is raised and the document passes over a roller 15 to an underneath run 16. The document is held to the belt around a roller 15 by tapes 17 and is held against the run 16 by a polished metal plate (not shown). After passing around the perforated hollow bar 18 the document is pushed into a throat formed between a slower speed conveyer 28 and tapes 29. Because of its slower speed the conveyer 28 streams the documents before feeding them on to a table 30. The belt completes its circuit by passing around rollers 20, 22 and along transverse run 23 to a second 45 degrees bar around which the belt twists back to a return run 25. The flap 14 can be solenoid operated, e.g. under control of automatic sorting apparatus.
