Abstract

1,244,678. Document conveyers. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 21 Aug., 1969 [27 Aug., 1968], No. 41694/69. Heading B8R. Documents are normally conveyed from a first position to a second position by a belt 8 passing round a wheel 7 in contact with rollers 9-14 along a main path defined by the belt, but if it is desired to delay the arrival at the second position, when the presence of a document is sensed by a photo-cell 62, a control circuit actuated by a processing station at the second position energizes an electromagnet 51 while releasing a magnet 55, so as to move the end 73 of a points blade 59 upwards and divert the document into a second path defined by a drum 21 co-operating with a roller 46, roller pairs 36-41 and a roller 45, the roller pairs being skew to urge the document laterally against a peripheral collar. A photo-cell 64 also controlling the magnets determines when the document shall return to the main path.
