969,429. Endless belt conveyers. PREPARATION INDUSTRIELLE DES COMBUSTIBLES. Jan. 16, 1963 [Jan. 20, 1962], No. 2014/63. Heading B8A. In Fig. 2, an elevating belt conveyer includes an endless flat belt 10 which co-operates with an endless belt 9 provided with transverse ribs (not shown) and with longitudinal bars 37. Direction-changing drums 15, 16 contact both belts. Fig. 3 shows one form of directionchanging drum comprising two drums 21a, 21b keyed upon a shaft 22 which also carries an intermediate, smaller diameter drum 23 freely mounted on the shaft. The difference in diameters provides a clearance for the passage of transverse ribs 40 provided on the belt 9 between the longitudinal bars 41. In Fig. 4, a wider belt 33 is provided with two series of transverse ribs 42a, 42b bounded by four longitudinal bars 43-46. Three drums 29-31 are secured to a shaft 32 and two intermediate drums 34, 35 are fitted loosely on the shaft. Flat belts 36, 47 cover the conveying channels.
