Abstract

1319166 Packaging machine L TASSI A BALLESTRAZZI and G TOSARELLI [trading as SITMA SnC SOC ITALIANA MACCHINE AUTOMATICHE DI TASSI BALLESTRAZZI E TOSARELLI] 13 May 1971 [13 May 1970] 14807/71 Heading B8C In a machine for packaging single, or multiple, fragile, or delicate, articles two endless films of heat-sealable packaging material 16, unwound from bobbins 12, 13 and drawn respectively by draw rollers 18, 21 and associated counter rolls 19, 22 over tension rollers 17, 25, are sealed together to form a loop 37 into which an article 27 to be packaged is dropped from a belt conveyer 26. When a dropped article 27 intercepts photo-electric cells 35 the feed conveyer 26 stops and the draw rollers 18, 21 are actuated to carry the package 27 and the loop 37 below a second pair of photo-electric cells 36, whereupon cutting and welding blades 29, 40 are actuated to co-operate with corresponding stationary blades 30, 41 and enclose the article 27. The action of severing and welding the packaged article leaves the ends of the two films 16 joined together to from the loop to receive the next article 27. The material 16 may be initially a single length wound part on each bobbin 12, 13.
