Abstract

839,147. Packaging. BANCROFT & SONS CO., J. Jan. 28, 1958 [Feb. 4, 1957], No. 2848/58. Class 94(1). [Also in Groups IX and XXXV] Fibres or yarns are packaged for liquid treatment by being enclosed in a tape or tapes and wound on a perforated sleeve. In one form of apparatus employing a single tape, yarns emerging from a rigid tube 11 pass on to a moving tape 20 which is immediately folded at 29 and the overlapping portions of tape may be heat-sealed. As the package is formed it is wound on a perforated flanged sleeve for liquid treatment. Another form of apparatus employs two tapes between which the crimped fibres are fed to be wound between closely spaced flanges on a perforated sleeve. The tapes are not joined. After treatment the package is unwound, the fibres withdrawn and both fibres and tape coiled for further use, Figs. 7, 8 (not shown).
