Abstract

1,001,036. Endless conveyers; packaging. SCHWEIZERISCHE INDUSTRIE-GESELL. SCHAFT. May 7, 1964 [May 8, 1963], No. 18966/64. Headings B8A and B8C. Articles 9 are fed by pushers 5 of an endless conveyer from stacks in a pair of shoots 7, 8, there being a slope 6 between the shoots so that each article 9<SP>11</SP> extracted from the shoot 8 is carried away by a pusher 5 on top of an article 9<SP>1</SP> previously extracted by the pusher from the shoot 7. The pushers 5 are pivotally mounted on their conveyer chain 2 and tend to fold to a non-pushing position X. They are retained in an article pushing position by a guide 12a. The leading pusher 3a of each group of pushers 3a, 3b is retained in article pushing position by being provided with a pin 14 which coacts with a guide rail 13. By this means a group of two pairs of articles is pushed on together into a carton 10 which is then surrounded by wrapping material 11. The wrapping tube so produced is transversely seamed and individual packages formed (not shown). There may alternatively be as many as n stacks of articles 9. The stacks may be formed for other unspecified purposes than cartoning and wrapping.
