356,618. Inserting packets into cartons. UNIVERSELLE CIGARETTENMASCHINEN-FABRIK J. C. MœLLER & CO., 48, Zwickauerstrasse, Dresden, Germany. Jan. 8, 1931, No. 698. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1930. [Class 94 (i).] Apparatus for introducing two jackets, to be arranged in proximity to each other, into a common carton is characterized in that in each operation a packet is removed from each of two conveyer belts carrying the packets and passed in front of a reciprocating slide which thrusts both packets together through a stationary filling funnel into the common container. Fig. 1 shows an intermittently rotated drum 2 with pockets 3, the packets being delivered by two separate conveyers 8, 12 to fit side-by-side in the pockets. At the delivery station, a reciprocating slide 15 engages with the top portions of the two packages projecting above the surface of the drum and pushes them through a funnel 16 into a carton &c. 17 carried by an intermittently moving conveyer 18. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which the packages forwarded by two intermittently-moving conveyers 21, 22 are thrust off by slides 23, 24, moving towards each other, which move the packages to a reciprocating slide 26. The two packages are then moved by the intermittently-moving conveyer 27 to a position where they are thrust into a container 31, carried on an intermittently-moving belt 30, through a funnel 29 by a reciprocating slide 28.
