Abstract

A packing machine has a continuously driven endless conveyor (1), provided with equi-spaced pockets (2), along which packet blanks (B) are formed around articles, e.g. bundles of cigarettes (G). Pushers (24) on an endless chain (20) successively transfer the bundles through a shuttle (15), which accelerates up to the speed of the conveyor (1), and into respective pockets (2). A similar pusher and shuttle device (Figs. 3 and 6, not shown) operates in reverse mode to remove the partly packed bundles. The packet blanks (B) are pushed into the pockets (2), upstream of the bundle insertion station, by pushers mounted on a blank insertion drum, (Figs. 1 and 4, not shown). <IMAGE>
