Abstract

855,897. Endless conveyers. FOOD MACHINERY & CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Oct. 23, 1958 [Oct. 29, 1957], No. 33970/58. Class 78 (1). [Also in Groups XVI and XVII] A device for erecting flattened cartons (see Group XVII), includes means for filling the cartons before they are closed. The erected cartons are moved by a conveyer 400 comprising three sets of chains 402, 404, 406. The inner chain 404 carries a number of pairs of squaring blocks 430 and each outer chain carries a number of squaring blocks 432, the chains being relatively adjustable such that the front face of each erected box will be pressed against a pair of blocks 430 and the rear face of each erected box will press against a pair of blocks 432. Driven in synchronism with the conveyer 400 is a second conveyer 12 on which articles such as pies are positioned between upstanding members 18. An article inserting chain 520 moves the articles laterally into the cartons and a finger 730 on the chain 520 causes a final seating of the article in the carton.
