615,378. Skiving machines. NEW FORTUNA MACHINE CO., Ltd., and SICE, K. Aug. 6, 1946, No. 23268. [Class 31(i)] In a machine for skiving or cutting leather or the like of the type having a cylindrical cutter mounted on a rotary shaft, the shaft is gear-driven from a belt pulley, whereby the drive can be located beneath the level of the table top. The drive to the backshaft may be through a second belt and pulley from the first belt pulley, or it may be direct from the main drive pulley. As shown, the cylindrical cutter a mounted on shaft b is driven through spur gears d, c, the gear e being fast with a double pulley c driven from the main drive pulley. The double pulley c may also drive through belt h the backshaft f.
