Abstract

672,719. Agricultural implements. BURKE, P. W. June 22, 1950 [June 29, 1949; Jan. 13, 1950], Nos. 17230/49 and 941/50. Class 6(i) In an agricultural machine for cultivating between rows of plants, a pair of cutter discs 23, 24 are provided to form guards fcr the plants against groundworking tools 26 which hoe the ground between the plants. As shown the machine is mounted on a tractor and the tools comprise cultivating blades mounted on one side face of the discs, which are fixed on tubular spindles 22 rotatable on fixed shafts 21 mounted on side arms 20 pivoted on a shaft 12. The discs are driven by a belt and pulley drive from a shaft 13 driven through gearing from the tractor power take-off shaft. The discs may be raised by power means on the tractor and the machine may be movable laterally by means of steering mechanism (not shown). The discs may be adjusted to vary the transverse spacing thereof and the depth of penetration may be controlled by a depth roller. The tools 26 may be separately mounted, in which case the discs would be freely rotatable. The machine may be fitted to a walk-type tractor.
