891,116. Agricultural implements. VYZKUMNY USTAV ZEMEDELSKYCH STROJU PRAHA. Sept. 13, 1960 [Sept. 18, 1959], No. 31437/60. Class 6(1) A machine for tilling the soil having driven knives which move through the soil in a direction opposite to the direction of travel of the machine is characterized in that the knives are provided with springs which are fixed to the trailing edge of each knife and are free to move resiliently in a radial direction towards and from the centre of the tool unit. As shown in Fig. 10 a pusher unit, which may be adjustable, is arranged in an arm of each knife and engages a portion of the furrow slice. The circumferential velocity of the knives and the speed of travel of the machine is adjusted so that the furrow slices are arranged as shown in Fig. 8. The tool unit is mounted in a frame attached by lift linkage to a tractor and driven through gearing from the tractor power shaft.
