Abstract

828,722. Agricultural implements. SMITH, L. S. Sept. 16, 1957 [Sept. 3, 1956]. No. 26871 /56. Class 6(1). A mechanical hoe comprises a blade 5 carried by a two-armed lever 6 pivotally mounted on a crankshaft 8 driven by a motor, the upper arm 11 of the lever being attached to a link 13 so that the blade 5 follows an elliptical path having a vertical minor axis which is shorter than the major axis which lies horizontal. The motor is mounted on a two wheeled tractor provided with a guiding handle and the two handwheels are also driven by the motor. An auxiliary ground wheel 15 is provided to run on the ground in advance of the blade 5. Specification 817,966 is referred to.
