Abstract

620,790. Planting-out machines. RITCHIE, W. C. Jan. 18, 1947, No. 1720. [Class 6(i)] A planting-out machine comprises drill opening and closing devices 15, 3 respectively, and flexible plant-gripping discs 19 coaxially mounted and driven from the ground wheels. Rollers 26 separate the rear parts of the discs enabling an operator on the seat 16 to insert a plant, root upwards. This is held by the front part of the discs which are pressed together by adjustable rollers 25, and released, root downwards, at the lowermost point. The drill-opening plates 15 may have welded thereon guides 36 for bent or straggly plants. The inclined ground-wheels 3 act as drill-closers, and are covered with shields 18.
