Abstract
586,288. Transplanting-machines. WILLIAMS, R. J. July 10, 1944, No. 13181. [Class 6 (i)] A transplanting-machine, of the type in which the plants are set manually, is provided with rear wheels 37 mounted upon arms 38 pivoted to the frame 11 of the machine to permit the height of the frame, and of tools carried thereby, to be varied with respect to the ground. In the form shown, the frame has a towing attachment 45 at its front end and carries seats 19 and 22 for operators, a storage box 17 for plants, and furrow-opening tools 26, aligned with pairs of soil-pressing wheels 31. The front operators pass plants back to the rear operators who set them in the furrows formed by the tools 26. The arms 38 are mounted on a shaft 39 which may be rotated by a lever 41 to raise and lower the rear wheels 37. The tools 26 and 31 are also individually adjustable both vertically and laterally. Scrapers 340 are provided on the soil-pressing wheels.
