Abstract

753,094. Agricultural implements; cutting vegetation. CALDWELL, F. C., and CALDWELL, E. L. July 15, 1954, No. 20671/54. Classes 6 (1) and 6 (3). A cutting device for attachment to a horizontal rotary blade 18 of an agricultural cutting machine comprises a sleeve 19 which fits over the blade and is secured thereto by means of bolts 26. Vertical blades 28 extend downwardly from the sleeve and are provided with cutting edges 29. The blades pick up stalks which are then cut by the rotary blade and also serve for cultivating the soil. The sleeve 19 is provided with cutting edges 24 and may be reversed in the blade when one cutting edge is worn. The blade is attached to a collar 13 fixed to a vertical shaft mounted on a wheeled frame 10 and driven from a tractor power shaft through a gearbox 15 and shaft 16.
