Abstract

774,540. Cutting bracken. ARTHUR, I. K. April 20, 1955 [May 26, 1954], No. 15613/54. Class 6(3). A tractor-mounted bracken-cutter comprises a frame 5 pivoted on a tractor and having a vertical shaft 14 terminating in a domed disc 25 which rides on the ground, the shaft and disc being rotatable from the tractor power take-off 2 and the disc having loosely-attached chains 30 which are flung outwardly centrifugally as it rotates. The chain-links are progressively smaller towards the free ends of the chains. The shaft 14 is driven by bevel-gears 15, 16 and a telescopic jointed shaft 21, 22, 23. A bracket 35 on the frame 5 is connected to the tractor lift arms 36 so that the device may be pivoted upwardly for transport.
