Abstract
664,697. Digging root-crops. KIND, P. J. March 22, 1950 [Dec. 24, 1948], No. 33328/48. Class 6(iii) A root-crop harvester comprises two juxtaposed, inclined shares 34 preceded by two discs 31 penetrating into the ground to a greater depth than the shares, so that a band of earth and soil is lifted on to an inclined, endless conveyer 16, The conveyer has side-walls 48 to which are fixed arms 14 and 50, together adjustably supporting a frame 36 carrying the shares 34. The arms 14 extend forwardly and upwardly, and carry a quadrant 19 and lever 20 linked to a frame 10, 11, which is supported on wheels 12, and pivoted at 13 to the arms 14 the discs 31 being secured to the inner sides of the wheels. Movement of the frame 10 and 11 and wheels 12 relatively to the conveyer is effected by the lever 20. The space between the share and conveyer is closed by bars 41. Soil falls through the conveyer mesh and the cleaning action is assisted by trailing chains 46.
