Abstract

615,130. Root-crop harvesters. DENIS, M. J. July 26, 1946, No. 22345. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1943. [Class 6 (iii)] A machine for gathering tubers comprises a plough 9, a jerking sifting band conveyer 11 which raises the potatoes and discharges them on means 21 arranged to deposit them in line on the ground, characteiised in that above the conveyer and substantially parallel to it is mounted an articulated clod-breaking spiked band 28, the points of articulation of said band being capable of a limited movement substantially perpendicular to the conveyer. In the construction shown, the crops are lifted by the share 9 and passed with the help of a pair of rotating discs 25, 251 to a vibrating endless conveyer, the lower return portion 11<SP>1</SP> of which is loose, the upper portion being taut. It is driven from the rear of the machine by a cog wheel driven from a reduction gear 18 and a motor 19. The space between the rear of the plough and front of the conveyer is partially bridged by an articulated grid system. The conveyer consists of transverse bars which hook into each other.
