Abstract

759,120. Agricultural implements. WHITMORE, J. L. Oct. 27, 1954, No. 31037/54. Class 6 (1). An earth-working implement comprises a wheeled carriage on which are mounted a number of downwardly projecting blades 74 the blades being flexible and resilient in a direction lateral but relatively rigid in a fore- and-aft direction so that the blades follow a sinuous path when penetrating into the soil to loosen both the top soil and sub-soil. As shown, each blade 74 is clamped between members 63 which are pivoted on a shaft 67. The blades are located in position by means of notches 75 which contact a bolt 70. The blades are connected by links 93 and 18 to a cross-bar 45 which is connected by means of a triangular structure 43 to a hand-lever 24 for raising and lowering the blades. Movement of the hand-lever is assisted by a hydraulic ram 25 which may be double-acting and is connected to the hand-lever by means of parallel links 33. An adjustably mounted disc coulter 87 is associated with each blade 74. A towbar 104 is provided for attachment to a tractor and a further tow-bar 26 is provided for the attachment of an implement such as a harrow. Removable tips 78 are provided on the blades.
