A soil-breaking attachment for the double-shares of beetharvesting machines comprises a pair of pointed bars 1 having integral lugs 2 by which they are mounted on the outer sides of the shares A so as to crumble the soil in the area surrounding the zone of action of the shares. The lug 2 may be welded to the share A or secured thereto by bolts 3. The lug may also be secured to the share-stem (not shown).
