Abstract
757,301. Agricultural implements. BURAS, W. Jan. 11, 1952 [Sept. 28, 1951], No. 24934/50. Class 6 (1) A cultivator comprises a driving-wheel 1 mounted at the front of a frame 5 and provided with projecting blades 3 serving to assist propulsion of the machine and to break up the soil, a knife 12 to pass through the loosened soil at a relatively shallow depth, at least a pair of following knives 19 moving at a greater depth and turning the soil, and a number of hooks 26 moving at still greater depth to break up and turn the soil and pull to the surface the roots of weeds decapitated by the knives. The knives 12, 19 and the hooks 26 are mounted on a second frame 18 connected to the frame 5 and so constructed that its width can be adjusted by means of a screw 22. The knives are of V shape in plan and the outer edges of the knives 19 are upturned to provide a ploughshare-like action. A motor is mounted on the frame 5 as shown or on an auxiliary frame directly over the wheel 1.
