Abstract

569,629. Conveyers. CHEETHAM, S., and MARSHALL, D. D. July 27, 1943, No. 12211. [Class 78 (i)] The endless belt a of a conveyer is driven by some or all of the intermediate supporting rollers b, c, d, or by a rope, narrow V-belt or chain which runs over the rollers. In the construction shown in Fig. 2 the central roller d only is grooved at e, to receive the endless driving rope, chain, &c. f, but the central roller may be omitted and the side rollers b, c grooved. Continuous wearing strips may be carried by either the belt or the rope, and the belt may have transverse strips. The belt may rest on the rope where the latter passes over its driving drum. Both belt and rope may have adjustable pulleys at the conveyer ends, and a jib extension may be provided, the jib end being supported by suspension links. Some of the rollers for the return traverse may also be driven, as may also the main end reversing rolls.
