Abstract
699,639. Driving pulleys. MAVOR & COULSON, Ltd. May 21, 1952 [Nov. 17, 1950], No. 28142/50. Class 80 (i). [Also in Group XXX] An endless belt conveyer driving pulley is provided with lagging in the form of arcuate metal plates to the outer surface of which rubber or rubber-like material is bonded, the composite plates being secured end-to-end around the core of the pulley to provide a continuous driving surface. As shown, the core of the pulley consists of a casting comprising a boss 10 with discs 11 at opposite ends having flanges 13, and four metal plates 16 are positioned on these flanges by pins 19 engaging in holes 17 extending into enlargements 18 in the flanges and are secured by set-screws pins 23 which are inserted through holes 27, 25 in the rubber 26 and plate respectively and engage in holes 22 in the flanges. The outer surface of the lagging is cambered so that the thickness of the rubber increases from the ends of the pulley towards the middle of its length. The rubber is formed with rectangularsection grooves 28 arranged in herring-bone fashion.
