Abstract

509,048. Endless-belt conveyers. MARSTON, C. C. Nov. 27, 1937, No. 32822. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer for granular material of the kind comprising an endless band which is supported by V-grooved pulleys within a trough along or adjacent the bottom of which the lower end of the band moves to convey material from one end of the trough towards the other, is characterised in that the band comprises an unarticulated member of taper-section which is gripped by the smooth sides of the pulley grooves and has its inner surface spaced from the base of the grooves. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 1, 3, endless bands 2 are supported on pulleys 3 in a trough 1 and actuated by a belt-driven shaft 7a to feed material from a shoot 9 to an outlet 10, a transverse deflector plate 11 being provided. The pulleys 3 may be replaced by a single multi-grooved pulley and the conveyer band may consist of a portion 2a, Fig. 5, with endless driving projections 5. The portion 2a may be formed on its upper face with transverse and/or longitudinal ridges. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, a single band 2 is employed, fitted with auxiliary conveyer members 12 of triangular cross-section.
