Abstract

1350306 Endless conveyers K HARTMANN 21 Oct 1971 [22 Oct 1970] 49089/71 Heading B8A Material is fed from a hopper 14 into pockets of a conveyer belt 1. The material is carried vertically to a discharge shoot 7 which extends to the side of the conveyer. The pockets of the conveyer are formed by flights 4 which are rigid with a flat base of the belt 1, but are not connected to corrugated side walls 1a of the belt. In a modification (Fig. 5, not shown), the flights extend right into the corrugations. Discharge of the belt is assisted by the action of a striker mechanism 8. A similar mechanism (not shown) may also be provided adjacent the vertically downward return run of the belt. A tensioning pulley 22 (Fig. 3) may be provided. This increases the degree of wrap of the belt around its drive pulley 3. The pulley 22 may also be driven. An auxiliary belt 18 is spring loaded at 20 to retain material in the vertically-rising load-carrying run of the conveyer.
