729,943. Endless belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Oct. 21, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952], No. 27902/52. Class 78 (1).- In an endless conveyer having independent load-carrying and tension elements the loadcarrying element is separated from the tension element and carried independently to a remote terminal drum, this extended portion of the load-carrying element being driven independently of the tension element. As shown, a belt 1 is carried on cross bars 3 of troughed form secured between a pair of endless driving chains 2 and provided with rollers 4 engaging a guide track (not shown) associated with a main frame 6. The chains 2 pass round driven sprockets 8 to the return run while the belt passes on over troughing idlers 9 on an extension of frame 6 to a remote terminal drum 7, the extra length of belt being separately driven on its return portion by a drum 10 either from the drive to sprockets 8 or by a separate motor. From drum 10 the belt passes over a weight actuated slidable. tension drum 11 and thence back to join the return run of the chains 2.
