Abstract
743,662. Endless conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Jan. 28, 1954 [Feb. 6, 1953], No. 3469/53. Class 78 (1). A scraper conveyer is adapted to follow a mine face by extending it under a main conveyer which it feeds and providing a ramp slidably connected with its framework and arranged to form with the latter a substantially continuous material transporting path. As shown, the framework A is composed of sections incorporating skids 5 while the ramp B is secured to the ground adjacent the feed end of main conveyer D. The chains 1, 2 of the scraper element run over sprockets 6 and 8 on the horizontal portion and 11, 12 on the ramp portion, sprockets 12 being driven by a motor 13. The chains are trapped by guide sections 10, Fig. 2, on the part of the horizontal portion in advance of the ramp, which also provide side guards which have telescopic extensions (not shown) overlapping the ramp section. To facilitate sliding between the ramp portion and the horizontal portion the former has rollers 4 running on tracks formed by the sides of the upper trough member. The sections 10 also rest on these tracks.
