Abstract

1,201,039. Endless conveyers. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 30 Jan., 1966 [4 Nov., 1966], No. 49490/66. Heading B8A. The endless belt 5a, 5b of a conveyer 1 for use in a mine is supported in framework sections which comprise side members 2 joined by rigid cross members or deck plates 4 bolted, welded or formed integrally with the side members 2. A base-plate 8 strengthens the sections and the cross members 4 may carry resiliently mounted rollers (6), Fig. 3 (not shown). In a modification, a curved guide plate supports the upper run of the belt. A shearer 3 is mounted on the side members 2 and a ram 12 connected to roof supports 9 advances the conveyer. The arrangement shown in Fig. 6 includes roof supports 9 as described in Specification 1,148,916 and an angle station 14 as described in Specification 919,544, the face conveyer 1 feeding a stage loader conveyer 15. The joints between the framework sections allow for some flexibility but the assembled unit is preferably rigid throughout its length. In a further embodiment, Fig. 7, suitable for use in a roadway of a mine, a trolley 29 supports a conveyer which has spill plates 29 and which has side portions 20 cut away in the region of a plough plate 36. This plate may be arranged to discharge material to one side or the other of the conveyer. Alternatively the plate can be pivoted clear of path of the material so that the material is discharged from the end of the conveyer. A drive motor (not shown) is mounted on the trolley 29.
