Abstract

857,705. Endless conveyers. SALZGITTER MASCHINEN A.G. March 1, 1957 [March 17, 1956], No. 6831/57. Class 78 (1). In an endless conveyer for use in mines which has a framework composed of a series of overlapping, articulated, wheeled trough sections 26 running on a rail track, the trough section 25 at the discharge end of the conveyer is provided with means for discharging material from the conveyer laterally through openings in one or both of its side walls. In one embodiment, Figs. 3, 5, the conveying element consists of scrapers attached by a horizontal pivot 24 to an endless round-link chain 23. The floor of the discharge section is arranged helically so that the scrapers are raised at one side, Fig. 5, the pivot 24 allowing the chain 23 to pass over a sprocket 29 to a driving sprocket 30. The pivot 24 may be omitted and the axis of sprocket 29 inclined. The floor 21 acts as a shoot to discharge the material through an opening in the side wall of the trough section. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the scrapers 22 remain horizontal but are raised to allow the material to fall through them to the floor of the trough section which is gradually formed into an inverted V to discharge through openings on both sides of the section, or alternatively is twisted as in Fig. 5, to discharge on one side only. In a further embodiment, Fig. 9, the scrapers 22 discharge on to a transverse belt conveyer 35 within the section which delivers through an opening in one side wall of the section. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 13, instead of a scraper chain an apron conveyer runs along the bottom of the trough sections and discharge is effected through an opening in one side wall of the discharge section by a scraper plate 20. The scraper 20 may be of V-form to discharge through openings in both side walls of the section.
