Abstract

891,325. Scraper conveyers. SCREW CONVEYOR CORPORATION. Dec. 14, 1959 [Oct. 28, 1959], No. 42452/59. Class 78 (1). In an endless chain scraper conveyer the conveying run of the chain is guided to prevent the scrapers from rising out of material being conveyed along the conveyer trough. The conveyer trough 8, Fig. 4, is provided with a series of cross members 30 supporting a guide bar 32 which supports the return run 12 of the chain, a guide bar 45, secured to the bar 32, extending over and engaging either a section or the whole length of the conveying run of the chain to prevent the scrapers 24 from rising out of the material being conveyed. The scrapers 24 are preferably of non-metallic material provided with backing plates 26 attached to the chain links, and are prevented from tipping on the return run by means of supports 40 secured to the cross members 30. The trough is discharged through the open bottom 25 of the head section 1, through a gate 36 with hand slides, and through a curved or flat gate 37 operated by means of a rack and pinion 38.
