Abstract
818,060. Endless belt and chain conveyers. VICARS Ltd., T. & T. (Petersen Oven Co.). Oct. 27, 1955, No. 30712/55. Class 78 (1). Articles, such as pan straps 148, are transferred from an endless conveyer 12 of the slat type to an endless belt conveyer 14 arranged at an angle thereto by an endless belt conveyer 104, the width of which is less than half the width of the pan straps and the speed of which is greater than that of the conveyer 12. The pan straps fall on to the belt 14 as soon as they are carried clear of the shelf 126. The belt 104 is driven by a roller 64, which is reduced to receive it so that the surfaces of the belt and roller are flush. The upper run of the belt is supported by a flat plate to the edge of which a smooth bead 128 is welded. This bead is of the same thickness as the belt and can be replaced by a roller. An end stop 136 is adjustable longitudinally of the belt 104. The pan straps are directed on to the belt 104 by a guide 44, 52, one end of which is connected to the flange 42 of the casing by a bolt and slot 50, 48 to permit longitudinal movement and the other end of which can be adjusted with respect to the flange 40 by a rod 54. This rod has a ball-and-socket connection 56 with the guide and extends through a hole in the flange 42 and through a bushing 58 secured thereto. The rod is locked by inserting a key 60 through holes in the bushing and rod.
