Abstract
867,302. Endless belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO Ltd. Feb. 2, 1959 [Feb. 1, 1958], No. 3385/58. Class 78 (1). The framework 10 of a belt conveyer for use in conveying coal from a working face in a mine is provided at its forward or inbye end with a telescopic frame section 13 provided with troughing idlers 19 for supporting the upper run of the belt, and the rearward or outbye end of the section 13 is connected by a system of draw-rods 25, Fig. 8, or by lazy tong linkage, to a bank of troughing idler rollers 20 each of which is individually slidable along the framework 10, so that, as the section 13 is extended, idlers 20 are drawn one by one from the bank to support the length of the upper run of the belt extending between the troughing idler 19 and troughing idlers provided along the remainder of the framework 10 of the conveyer (not shown). The conveyer belt 12 is passed from the return run over a pulley 11 on the framework 10, over a pulley 18 on the outbye end of the section 13, round a pulley 17 on a loading section 15 pivoted at 14 to the inbye end of section 13, and over the troughing idlers 19, 20 on the conveying run. Material is fed into a hopper 16 on the loading- section 15 by a header unit 21, or alternatively (Fig. 6, not shown), the loading unit 15 may be adapted at a low-loading unit. The bottom of the hopper 16, Fig. 9, is provided with cushioning rollers 27.
