857,589. Scraper conveyers. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. June 7, 1957 [June 22, 1956], No. 18225/57. Class 78 (1). In a scraper conveyer of the kind comprising a channel composed of side sections 1, a floor 2 welded to the side sections centrally of their height, and a scraper chain consisting of two endless chains between which scraper flights resting on the floor 2 are secured at intervals, the lower portions 3 and the lower flanges 4 of the side sections which guide the return run of the chains are discontinued at one or more points along the length of the conveyer and lead-in devices for leading a de-tracked chain back into its tracks are mounted in the apertures 5 so formed. The arrangement is such that where portions of the chains have fallen out from the guideways formed by the flanges 4 owing to the scraper flights becoming oblique, the lead-in devices are adapted to engage the chains and scraper flights to return them to the guideways. Each lead-in device consists of an outwardly and downwardly-extending plate 6 extending beyond the normal width of the conveyer to centre laterally the scraper flights, downturned portions 8 at the' ends of the flanges 4 on either side of the aperture 5 which have a curved upper surface 10 and an inclined lower surface 9, and vertical oblique surfaces 7 arranged between the plate 6 and the side portion 3 on either side of the aperture 5. The device may be fabricated from metal plates as shown, or may be cast in one piece.
