Abstract

597,484. Endless-belt conveyers. DUNCAN, A. W., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 21, 1945, No. 21370. [Class 78(i)] , A belt conveyer of the kind in which the load is carried on the bottom strand comprises a structure in which adjacent sections are articulate, each section comprising two longitudinal side members 3 carrying belt supporting rollers 1 and being rigidly connected one to the other, the side members 3 being bent inwardly from slightly above the level of the rollers at an incline under the,side portion of the belt 2. The side members 3 of each section are rigidly attached at one end to a foot member 5 which is provided with upwardly directed slots in which a cross member 4 at the other end of the next adjacent section will engage. A gob side plate 7 projecting considerably above belt. level is bolted to one or other side member 3 according as the conveyer is on a right or left hand face. The upper run of. the belt 2 can be carried by rollers mounted at adjustable height in top supports, or alternatively it can be-independently supported on supports driven between the roof and roof-bars or mounted on pit props.
