Abstract
463,988. Endless chain elevators. AUMUND, H. Oct. 29, 1935, No. 29816. [Class 78 (i)] An endless-chain elevator wherein material such as coal is conveyed down a vertical shaft on plates which are hinged to an endless chain and consist of two pivotally connected parts extending to the sides of the shaft, is characterized in that the said parts are of unequal size and are fed by a horizontal or inclined conveyer, and the vertical portion of the elevator is raised when the heap of material discharged from the lower end thereof reaches a predetermined height and operates a switch controlling a winch. In the embodiment shown, the conveyer consists of plates a, b which are hinged to an endless chain d guided in a shaft h by rollers o, p, the plates being supported along the horizontal portion of the elevator by guides f, f<1> and being fed by a belt - conveyer e. When the material discharged in the bunker s reaches a predetermined height, it operates a switch controlling a winch m which by means of a band i, raises the shaft h together with the rollers o, p. The plates may be provided with rollers for supporting them in their horizontal run. Specification 430,898 is referred to.
