Abstract

298,251. Schmied, F. May 4, 1927. Hoists with guided skips.-A skip 4 moving on guides 3 is provided with filling and discharging openings 5, 6 each surrounded by a broad frame 18 or 26 co-operating with a frame such as 17 on the feeding or discharging shoot so as to cut off communication with the outside and prevent the escape of dust, even though the skip sways up and down. The skip is shown at the bottom of a pit shaft in the position for filling from a shoot 11 and bunker 2. A pair of bunkers 2 are arranged side by side beneath a tippler 8. The outlet valves 14 of the hoppers are moved automatically by stops 19 on the skips, and the outlet valves 23 of the skips are moved automatically by levers 28 on the valves engaging abutments at the top of the shaft. The valves may be arranged for filling the skips at the top of the shaft and emptying them at the bottom.
