Abstract
959,879. Endless conveyers. GEWERKSCHAFT EISENHUTTE WESTFALIA. Jan. 21, 1963 [July 27, 1962], No. 2501/63. Heading B8A. An arrangement in mines for communicating the end of a face conveyer 7 projecting into a roadway 1 with a roadway conveyer 20 comprises an intermediate twin chain scraper conveyer 9 which at its receiving end, bears on the floor under the projecting end of the face conveyer 7 and at its discharge end 21, is suspended over the roadway conveyer 20 by means of a monorail overhead conveyer 14. The receiving end of the intermediate conveyer 9 is connected, so as to be longitudinally displaceable and/or lockable to the floor bar of an hydraulic roof support frame 5 which supports the end of the face conveyer 7. Under normal working conditions material is discharged from the intermediate conveyer and on to the roadway conveyer 20 at an intermediate discharge point approximately on section line A-B where bottom plates of the conveyer 9 are slidably removed. Over the elevating portion of the conveyer 9, the lower run 23 of the conveyer is spaced from the upper run by means of connecting webs 24. when, however, the roadway conveyer 20 is immobilized, the bottom plates of the intermediate conveyer 9 are replaced, the discharge end 21 is closed by detachable shields and the conveyer speed is reduced thus utilizing the suspended portion of the conveyer 9 as a storage bunker. Side shields may be provided to increase the bunkering capacity. The said suspended portion may have an independent conveyer which may be either of the scraper chain or vibrating type. It is desirable to have the intermediate discharge point of the intermediate conveyer 9 at the highest possible level and the discharge end 21 at the lowest possible level to aid the bunkering operation. Driving means for the intermediate conveyer 9 are disposed at the discharge end 21 and additionally on the webbed section 24.
