Abstract

1439852 Discharging material from scraper conveyers DIDIER - KELLOGG INDUSTKIEANLAGENBAU GmbH and BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH 9 Aug 1973 [11 Aug 1972] 37859/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division F4] Charging apparatus for a coke oven battery comprises a feeder conveyer 1 extending longitudinally of the battery and incorporating a movable surface 11 having an opening 15 associated with a delivery hopper 17, said surface being swept by the flights 7 of a scraper chain conveyer whereby coal is fed into the delivery hopper. The latter has a flap valve 18 to close the opening 15 and a tubular end which telescopically fits into an inverted Y-piece having connectors 22a and 22b for the charging openings 4. The Y-piece is suspended by rods 23a, 23b from rollers running on rails 24a, 24b on a frame 20, said rods incorporating lifting and lowering devices 25a, 25b. The movable surface 11 is part of an endless steel band forming with side walls (8a, 8b, Fig. 2) an enclosed channel in which the scraper conveyer operates thus reducing dust pollution. The band 11 engages guideways (12a, 12b, and 13a, 13b, Fig. 2) in the side walls which may be swept by inert gas. In a modification (Fig. 4) the feeder conveyer extends longitudinally along one side of the battery and the delivery hopper feeds an inclined shoot (26) at the top of each chamber at this side. Another modification. (Figs. 5-9) has the longitudinal conveyer feeding a transverse scraper conveyer carried by a wheeled framework on rails on top of the arms with telescopic shoots feeding the flow charging- openings. The conveying surface of the transverse conveyer is divided by partitions into four tracks each feeding its own shoot.
