Abstract

1,184,903. Piling material; endless conveyers. ROBERT CORT & SON Ltd. 15 May, 1967 [15 Feb., 1966], No. 6598/66. Headings B8A and B8E. Apparatus for piling friable material such as coal in a semicircular area 10 divided by walls 45 comprises a gantry 11 pivotally mounted at 13 in a pit 20 and supported by tracks 21, 24 for slewing by power-driven bogies 23. Wagons 28 on a track 26 discharge into a hopper 27 from which the material is fed to an endless belt feed conveyer 14 on the gantry 11. The conveyer 14 deposits the material on to an endless belt shuttle conveyer 15 comprising a main carriage 30 running on rails on the gantry and a boom 32 pivotally connected to its outer end and provided with a pivoted tip section 39. The carriage 30 is positioned as desired radially on the gantry and the boom 32 is adjusted vertically by a hoist 34 on an auxiliary carriage 33 and the inclination of its tip is adjusted by electric actuators 40 so that the material is deposited without appreciable free fall. Material may alternatively be fed directly into bunkers 46 by positioning the shuttle conveyer in the dotted position 43.
