An endless chain 4 connecting conveyer trollies (not shown) is driven by the action of two endless belts 1, 2. As shown, both belts are driven, the mounting of the belt 2 being carried by parallel linkage 5. This causes, by torque reaction, the belt 2 to press the chain 4 against the belt 1. The belts have beaded longitudinal edges to retain the chain 4 in position. The chain 4 is of the type in which the axes of adjacent rollers are angularly disposed, the axes of alternate rollers being parallel.
