Abstract

974,995. Endless conveyers. OLIN MATHIESON CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Sept. 25, 1963 [Oct. 1, 1962], No. 37784/63. Heading B8A. Containers are caused to be separated into a series of groups for packaging by the action of an opposed pair of chains 23 (carrying pushers 30) which have a greater speed than a preceding pair of similar chains 9, 10. The containers are fed by an input belt conveyer 2 on to a fixed plate 3. Conveying pressure feeds the containers onwards so that every third in each of the two rows is engaged by a respective pusher of the chains 9, 10. The chains 23 thus accelerate the containers into groups of six. Flight bars 40 of endless chains 41, 42 pass up through a gap 5 in the plate 3 to convey each group away to packaging mechanism. The chains 9, 10, 23, 41 and 42 are driven by gearing from a single motor 60. The drive is conveyed from the chains 41, 42, to the chains 23, via a chain 51 (Fig. 2), and an overhead shaft 29. Due to a sliding coupling 29A in the latter, a mounting plate 7 carrying the chains 9, 23 is laterally adjustable.
