462,260. Endless - belt conveyers. RIDGILL, E. Nov. 27, 1935, No. 32959. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer comprises an endless belt 1 (on the upper lap of which coal or the like is. to be conveyed) with a driving pulley 3 located below the upper lap adjacent to the delivery end, the pulley being embraced over a considerable arc by the return lap of the belt, and the pressure of the belt on the pulley being increased by an auxiliary band 5. The band 5 may be guided into engagement with the outer surface of the conveyer belt 1 by pulleys 6, 7, 8, 9, tension being provided by a spring 12 which acts on the pulley 8. There may be two narrow bands 5 in contact with each edge of the belt 1, or three spaced bands or a single broad band may be employed. In a modified arrangement, the guide pulley 4 for the return lap is at a higher level than the pulley 3. A brush 13 may be provided. The driving pulley 3 may have fine grooves or serrations to increase the grip still further. Specification 346,691, [Group XXIV], is referred to.
