692,229. Sintering apparatus. METALLGES., AKT.-GES. March 14, 1951 [April 28, 1950], No. 6179/51. Class 82(i) A sintering apparatus comprises an endless sintering band in the form of a horizontal loop, two pairs of sprocket wheels 8, each pair engaging the band at one end of the loop, a driving motor 3 disposed remote from the band, reduction gearing 4 driven by the motor and connected to a driven shaft on which sprockets 7 are mounted to drive the said pairs of sprocket wheels by means of chains. The chains may be Galle chains as described, for example, in French Specification 3922/1829, namely sprocket chains with laminated links. Between each sprocket and the reduction gearing may be interposed couplings 5 and 6, one of these couplings consisting of two unequally divided coupling plates such as 10 in Fig. 4, having 32 holes, and 11 in Fig. 3 having 36 holes, the plates being connected by shearresistant pins through at least two aligned holes.
